Indian origin physician Dr Ramesh Babu Peramsetty, renowned for his contributions to the medical field, was shot dead in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Originally hailing from Andhra Pradesh‘s Tirupati district, Dr Peramsetty was declared dead at the scene by emergency responders.
As a prominent member of the medical community, Dr Peramsetty founded and served as the medical director of the Crimson Care Network, which operates several local clinics.
The network confirmed his untimely passing in a Facebook post, saying, “As many are aware, we have been informed of Dr Ramesh Peramsetty’s passing. The Peramsetty family requests privacy during this time of mourning. They have received an outpouring of love and support, and we will continue to honor his legacy as he would have wanted us to.”
In a subsequent statement, the Crimson Care Network urged the community to keep the Peramsetty family in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. “Please continue to keep the Peramsetty and Crimson Care Network family in your thoughts and prayers as we navigate this challenging time. Our team is prepared to make more statements within the next few days. We will continue to honor his legacy. Our clinics remain open during the transition.”
Dr Peramsetty, who graduated from Sri Venkateswara Medical College in 1986, brought nearly four decades of medical expertise to his practice, according to WedMD. He gained significant recognition for his efforts during the Covid-19 pandemic, with his clinics being among the first to offer testing, vaccinations, and monoclonal antibody treatments.
He is survived by his wife, two sons, and two daughters, all of whom reside in the United States.
